Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar, who functioned as the Secretary of Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society for nine years, has ridiculed the allegations of Ministers Konda Surekha and Seethakka made against him and said he was ready to face any inquiry.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that all records pertaining to his tenure as the Secretary were safe in Sankshema Bhavan and the government could order any probe against him, including one by ACB. He was ready to go to jail if it was proved that he had committed anything wrong or played with the lives of the students.
Stating that there was no minister for education and social welfare in the A. Revanth Reddy Government even one year after coming to power, Mr. Praveen Kumar said a large number of students had become engineers, and doctors and taken to other respectable professions during the last nine years and the institutions had grown into role models for the country.
He said the Congress leaders and ministers were making baseless allegations against him and people knew about the ‘criminal’ background of Ms. Surekha’s family. Neither Ms. Surekha nor Ms. Seethakka or any other Congress leader had an understanding of food poisoning incidents. He also criticised the Education Commission Chairman A. Murali for not speaking about food poisoning incidents.
He claimed that nearly 50 students had died in residential schools since December 7 last year and they included deaths due to suicide, food poisoning, snake bite and other health and hygiene problems in hostels.
