Hyderabad: Mobile veterinary clinic (MVC), on the lines of 108 ambulance for humans, provides uninterrupted services to dairy farmers in rural areas when it comes to animal-related emergency cases like mastitis, milk fever, ketosis, parasitic infections and poisoning.
In Telangana, 100 mobile veterinary ambulances are operating. With just one phone call, veterinary staff reach the doorstep of ailing animals, conduct medical check-ups and provide treatment on the spot.
MVC service offers 24/7 emergency support to livestock owners. “Over the last seven years, we treated over 41 million animals across species, including cattle, buffalo, poultry and goats. In 2023 alone, 5.9 lakh animal cases were handled, maintaining an average of 9.3 trips per vehicle per day,” said LA Khalid, chief operating officer, EMRI Health Services, which operates the veterinary ambulances.
“MVCs are equipped with GPS-tracking, telemedicine facilities and mobile technology to ensure that veterinary doctors can consult remotely on complex cases. Each MVC team includes a veterinary doctor, para vet, helper, and captain, ensuring comprehensive care for animals,” he said.
