Vijayawada: The accused in the Chebrolu minor girl murder case was recently arrested after four months of being on the run. During a press conference at the police headquarters on Monday, Guntur SP Satish Kumar announced the arrest of Naramamidi Nagaraju (44) from Kondapalli village in NTR district.
Police said that Nagaraju worked as a gas cylinder delivery person. He lived in a rented accommodation in Kothareddypalem, Chebrolu mandal. The investigations confirmed that he was involved in the murder of the minor girl on July 15.
It is recalled that the investigation began after the victim’s father lodged a complaint at Chebrolu police station. Immediately later, Nagaraju was on the run. However, despite his several attempts to avoid being captured, police arrested him. To ensure the accused was arrested, the cops formed eight specialised teams that worked under the supervision of Tenali DSP Janardhan Rao.The teams conducted thorough searches across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
Police tracked Nagaraju’s movements using modern investigative tools, including CCTV analysis, live tracking, and social media alerts.
Following the crime, Nagaraju travelled extensively by bus and train through Guntur, Vijayawada, Warangal, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and other locations. He temporarily worked at in spinning mills and construction sites. Despite his frequent relocations to avoid detection, police located him in Rajamahendravaram, where he took up work at a spinning mill.
Further investigation revealed Nagaraju’s previous criminal record, including the alleged murder of a woman named Rajini in Ibrahimpatnam of NTR district, whom he reportedly strangled. His pattern involved fleeing after committing offences, the cops said.
