Latest anti-nuclear shield launched in Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based Sigma-9 Aerospace and Defence Research Centre Pvt. Ltd. launched its anti-nuclear shield, a cutting-edge pioneering technology to safeguard humanity and environment from the devastating effects of nuclear explosions and their radioactive aftermath.

The launch programme held in Begumpet, Hyderabad on Sunday (December 1, 2024) was attended by leading scientists, defence experts and dignitaries, including Rear Admiral Mohan Doss.

Mr. Doss said that peace exists today because of nuclear power. “Currently, 10 countries have nuclear capabilities. With this technology, we have the mechanism at least to detect in case of an attack where the nuclear missile is coming from and going to and intercept it. This is a huge technological advancement,” he said.

Mr. Doss said that past five years have seen India exporting arms to many countries and the aim should be to develop more in-house technologies. He lauded the company for taking up the initiative and encouraged the players to develop a defence industry corridor by exporting cutting-edge defence technologies to countries.

The anti-nuclear shield is a result of 15 years of research and development and is designed to counter the harmful effects of nuclear radiation, including gamma rays, neutrons, and electromagnetic pulses. The technology’s applications extend beyond defence, with potential civilian uses in power plants and industries handling radioactive materials.
