For the first time, Airbus operations have commenced between Mumbai and Rajamahendravaram Airport, announced Airport Director S. Jnaneswar. The inaugural flight departed from Rajamahendravaram to Mumbai at 6 pm on Sunday. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Anaparti MLA N. Ramakrishna Reddy, and other dignitaries attended the launch event. Airport officials marked the occasion by ceremonially spraying water on the aircraft as it arrived.
Jnaneswar noted that the first Airbus from Mumbai landed at Rajamahendravaram Airport at 6.45 pm, completing the journey in 1 hour and 50 minutes with 172 passengers. The return flight departed for Mumbai at 7.15 pm, carrying 120 passengers.
He further announced that Indigo Airlines would commence a direct service to New Delhi from Rajamahendravaram on 12 December. The flight from New Delhi is scheduled to depart at 7.30 am, arriving in Rajamahendravaram by 9.45 am. The return flight will leave Rajamahendravaram at 10.30 am and reach New Delhi by 1 pm.
Jnaneswar encouraged the public to utilise these new air services to Mumbai and New Delhi, which provide faster and more convenient travel options.
