Three held in Hyderabad while transporting 56 kg ganja from Odisha


A gang of three, transporting 56 kg ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad, were arrested by the Chandanagar police recently. The arrested individuals were identified as Chaman, a Haryana native, Shivampeta Umakanth alias Chinnu and Arjuna Sai Krishna.

According to the police, the police stopped an SUV near the Hanuman temple at Gangaram on National Highway 65 following a tip-off. On inspecting the car, the officers found 60 packets of a brown, pungent-smelling substance, identified as dry ganja.

During interrogation, it was found that the trio sourced the contraband from Odisha from a person identified as Rakesh, Haryana native who is on the run. Umakanth and Sai Krishna joined Chaman at Patancheru.

A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and investigation is under way.
