The bodies of an unmarried couple were found at a three-storied apartment complex at Venkateswara Colony in Sheela Nagar under Gajuwaka police station limits, here on Tuesday (December 3, 2024). Police suspect that they might have jumped from their apartment’s third floor.
The deceased was identified as P. Durga Rao (32) and P. Susmitha (25). Both Durga Rao and Susmitha hail from Amalapuram, B.R Ambedhkar Konaseema district. While Durga Rao runs a catering service, Susmitha is a pharma employee.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Gajuwaka) T Trinadh said that as per the primary investigation, both Durga Rao and Susmitha have been living together in the apartment for the past three months. At around 5.50 a.m., the police received a call that the duo have jumped from the three-storied building to end lives, he said.
Inspector of Gajuwaka police station, A. Pardhasaradhi said that they suspect that the duo might have entered into an altercation before they took the extreme step. The TV remote, a glass were found broken in the house, he said, adding that more details are yet to be ascertained and the call data recordings have to be verified.
Gajuwaka police have registered a case. The bodies are being sent for postmortem.
