CRDA approves Rs 11,467 crore for infra projects in Amaravati

VIJAYAWADA: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has decided to call tenders for various works with an estimated cost of Rs 11,467 crore. In its 41st meeting chaired by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, the CRDA authority approved 23 proposals on various works to be taken up in the capital region.

As there were no takers for the Happy Nest project even after extension of time for filing bids, CRDA revised the cost estimates to Rs 984.1 crore, as against Rs 720.5 crore approved in 2018-19, besides approving the proposal to call fresh tenders for the project.
The state govt will incur a loss of Rs 270.71 crore due to the delay in execution of the project.
Municipal administration and urban development minister, P Narayana, said CRDA has approved the proposal submitted by the technical committee to clear pending bills to the agencies, 120 days after cancelling the existing contracts.
Administrative sanction was also given for completion of type 1, type 2, and class 4 employees’ apartments for Rs 594.54 crore. The works will be given with two years of defect liability period (DLP).
Rs 226.26 crore was approved for completion of infrastructure facilities, which include drinking water, underground drainage, stormwater drains, street lighting, internal roads, and landscaping at the staff quarters.
The non-gazetted officers’ quarters will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 607.5 crore. The pending works of All India Services (AIS) officers’ quarters will be taken up with an estimated cost of Rs 516.6 crore.
Works in LPS zones to be completed
CRDA also approved that proposal to complete infrastructure works in Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) zones at an estimated cost of Rs 3,859.66 crore in an extent of 8,496.3 acres. It was further decided to cancel the works allotted through the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC), which include trunk infrastructure, greenery, and flood mitigation works.
The proposal to divide the works to be taken up with funds from the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Development Bank (AIDB) at an estimated cost of Rs 1,585.95 crore was also approved. CRDA also approved the proposals to complete various road works in the capital and appoint a consultant for greenery and trunk infrastructure works.
