IMA, Visakhapatnam Branch new executive meet held


The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Visakhapatnam Branch, at its recent meeting at AMCOSA hall, introduced its new executive for 2024-2026.

Scientific talks were given by Dr. T. Narayana Rao, former professor of surgery, Andhra Medical College, on ‘Advances in Obesity and Metabolic Surgery’ and by Dr. G. Krishna Babu, Professor and HoD, Community Medicine, Maharaja Institute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram.

Dr. Narayana Rao said that India was in third position in the incidence of obesity. It was estimated that 40% of the people in India being obese, it would be a major cause of mortality. Obesity mainly causes diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. I. Vani, president, IMA, Visakhapatnam, Dr. MVV Murali Mohan, secretary, Dr. Bose, general secretary, IMA AP, Dr. T. Ravi Raju, nephrologist, JC Naidu, president, IMA, AP, and N. Subrahmanyam, past president, were among those who participated in the programme.
