Tremors felt in Vijayawada as 5.3 magnitude earthquake hits Telangana’s Mulugu

After 5.3 magnitude-earthquake shook Mulugu of Telangana at 7.27 a.m. Wednesday (December 4, 2024), residents in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry have reported feeling of mild tremors for 2-3 seconds.

Jagadeesh, a resident of Krishna Lanka in Vijayawada, said he was on the bed when he felt tremors for 3 seconds. “Immediately, I grabbed my mobile phone to look at the time. It was 7.57 a.m. We all have been talking about it on our Whatsapp family and friends’ groups since then,” he said. People reported shaking of the cot and chairs, however, it was only mild.

As per information provided on the National Center for Seismology, the responses of the earthquake were reported from many places in Andhra Pradesh, including Hanuman Junction, Rajahmundry, Thulluru, Vijayawada, Guntur, and other places in NTR district in the State, all of which located 300 km-350 km away from the epicentre of Mulugu.
