27-year-old driver charred to death in Hyderabad


Hyderabad: A 27-year-old driver was charred to death after the garbage-laden lorry that he was driving rammed into a divider near Gowdavelly and caught fire at about 5.30 am on Wednesday.

Medchal SHO B. Satyanarayana said the victim G. Sandeep, was driving the vehicle at a high speed and lost control over the steering. When it hit the divider, the diesel tank got damaged and the fire spread due to friction. The truck was proceeding from Miyapur to Bandlaguda.

ACB raids RTA checkposts across TG, seizes cash

Seven teams of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday conducted simultaneous checks on RTA checkposts at Bhojraj of Adilabad district, Vishnupuram, Nalgonda and Alampur of Gadwal and seized the unaccounted cash.

During the searches, ACB seized an unaccounted amount of Rs 62,500 from the Bhoraj checkpost, Rs 86,600 from Vishnupuram and Rs 29,200 from the Alampur checkpost. The ACB teams also observed several irregularities in the checkposts. A report will be sent to the government on the erring officials for taking necessary action.

SCR adds 66 additional general class coaches

South Central Railways (SCR) has expanded its express train services by adding 66 additional general class coaches. Another 80 general class coaches are planned to be introduced in a phased manner.

The additional coaches have been provided on important trains operating on key routes to Guntur, Nizamuddin, Tirupati, Kakinada, Danapur, Machilipatnam, Yesvantapur, Nanded, and Madurai. The coaches will be added to 19 Express trains, at the rate of two per train.
