Warangal: The bodies of four Maoists, who were killed in the encounter with police at Chalpaka forest region on December 1, were handed over to their family members after completion of postmortem at the government area hospital in Eturnagaram mandal of Mulugu district on Tuesday.
With members of the Telangana State Human Rights Association filing a petition in the High Court on Monday alleging that the encounter was fake, the court directed the Mulugu district police to preserve the seven bodies and after hearing the writ petition on Tuesday, the High Court ordered the police to hand over the bodies of six Maoists to their respective family members.
Eturnagaram sub-inspector of police Tajuddin told Deccan Chronicle that as per the orders by the High Court, bodies of four Maoists, Telangana state committee member Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru alias Papanna (35), Mussaki Deval alias Karunakar (22), the woman Maoists Mussaki Jamuna (23) and Kamesh (23) were handed over to their family members.
Since the family members of the two Maoists Jai Singh (25) and Kishore (22) did not turn up to receive their bodies, the bodies were preserved in the freezers.
With the writ petition filed by the Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur area commander Agolapu Mallaiah alias Madhu’s (43) wife Ilamma for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, the High Court ordered to preserve his body until Thursday, he said.
