Doctors’ group calls out quack for dangerous med practices

Hyderabad: The doctors’ community has called for action against an unqualified practitioner operating a clinic in Banjara Hills. The person, who identifies himself as Dr VRK in his prescriptions, was flagged for offering questionable medical advice and treatments. These include dietary recommendations and extensive prescriptions, particularly for conditions like type 1 diabetes, cancer cure and reversal of chronic kidney disease with his self-claimed ‘VRK diet’.
Several doctors have raised an alarm against VRK’s practices, which include prescribing modern medicines and vitamins without being an National Medical Commission or Medical Council of India-registered physician. “He is leveraging an honorary doctorate to claim medical authority, misleading patients into believing he is a qualified medical doctor,” said Telangana Medical Council member Dr Naresh Kumar.
While TGMC will investigate the man, the council also responded to a complaint against an unqualified person, G Ramakrishna, in Fort Warangal following a grievance raised by a family. Seventy-year-old Itaneni Suraya suffered a severe skin condition after taking medicines prescribed by Ramakrishna.
