Vijayawada: Security personnel at Gannavaram airport detained a passenger after two bullets were found in his bag during routine baggage checks. The passenger, identified as Arya, is a second-year engineering student at a private engineering college in Guntur and a native of Panipat in Haryana. He was scheduled to fly to Delhi on an Air India flight when the bullets were discovered in his luggage.
Inspector B V Shiva Prasad of Gannavaram police station said the student was immediately detained by airport security and handed over to the police for further questioning. Preliminary investigations revealed that the bullets originated from a licensed firearm previously owned by Arya’s father, who worked as a security guard at a private bank between 2008 and 2010. During a recent visit to his home, Arya inadvertently packed the bag containing the bullets while preparing to return to college. The bullets remained unnoticed in his possession till the airport screening. The incident occurred as Arya was preparing to board his flight home.
