Hyderabad: To ensure a peaceful and secure environment for students at Osmania University, vice-chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram directed officials to enhance security measures on the campus. The decision was taken at a review meeting with university security staff after considering the feedback from students, faculty and employees.
As part of the measures, the university has extended the closing time of its main gates by an hour, now operating until 9 pm. Additionally, the gate near the Adikmet flyover will remain open 24 hours to facilitate movement for employees and students from institutions like the PGRRCDE, RCUES, Directorate of Admissions, NGO Home and others.
The VC said heavy transport, commercial and cargo vehicles would not be permitted on the university’s main roads to ensure safety. Security personnel have been instructed to conduct checks, patrol sensitive areas and establish night vigils. He also stressed the need for strict monitoring around women’s hostels to ensure their safety.
Prof. Molugaram urged the students, faculty and staff to cooperate with the university’s efforts to improve security. He directed the security team to use their authority responsibly to implement checks and respond to any emerging situations promptly.
