
Hyderabad: The govt on Thursday informed the Telangana high court that it has constituted task force committees across the state to ensure that food-poisoning incidents do not recur.
Appearing for the state, additional advocate general Imran Khan told the court that the govt has suspended the headmaster of the Maganoor zilla parishad high school in Narayanpet district and the contractor responsible for supplying food for the schoolchildren. “His contract was also terminated,” he told a division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J Sreenivas Rao.
The bench while adjourning the case by six weeks directed the state govt to file a detailed status report on the issue and also furnish details pertaining to the task force committees, its members, etc., before the court.
The bench was hearing a PIL filed by Keethineedi Akhil Sri Guru Teja of Hyderabad, who was seeking a direction to the Centre and the state govt to implement midday meals PM Poshan as per the menu in all govt schools till class VIII and implement the Integrated Child Development Service scheme as per the menu in all institutions.
Guru Teja’s counsel Chikkudu Prabhakar earlier brought to the notice of the court that 50 students studying in Maganoor ZP high school fell sick reportedly after eating boiled eggs and other food on Nov 20 and they were shifted to Makthal hospital.
On Nov 21, worms were seen in the midday meals served to the students of the same school, and on Nov 26 and 28 students from the school fell ill after consuming stale food.
