Burujupeta temple sees huge rush on Margasira first Thursday

Special rituals were performed to Goddess Kanaka Mahalakshmi amid the chanting of hymns and playing the ‘nadaswaram’ on the first Thursday of the month-long ‘Margasiramasotsavam’ at the Burujupeta temple. The annual festival began on December 2 and Thursdays witness a huge rush of devotees.

The temple was decorated with flowers. Visakhapatnam South MLA Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, VMRDA Chairman Pranava Gopal and temple E.O. K. Shobarani were among those who took part in the first puja at one minute past Wednesday midnight.

On Thursday evening, 14 donors participated in the ‘panchamruthabhishekam’ rituals. A total of 5,000 devotees were provided with ‘Anna prasadam’ on Thursday. Buttermilk and water sachets were also distributed to devotees waiting in the queue lines.

A free medical camp was conducted by the staff of various Primary Health Centres (PHCs) on the directions of the District Medical and Health Officer.

A mythological drama ‘Satya Harischandra’ was staged by N. Avataram Naidu and his troupe of Sri Venkateswara Natya Mandali.
