Hyderabad: The Telangana govt appointed Ghanta Chakrapani as as vice-chancellor of Dr BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Hyderabad, on Friday. Chakrapani is the former chairman of Telangana Public Service Commission and has also worked as a senior professor in BRAOU sociology department. He will hold the post for a term of three years from the date of appointment.
The appointment was made by governor Jishnu Dev Varma from the three names sent to him by the state. The announcement was made by the higher education department through a GO. The varsity has been running under an in-charge VC since May 21 after the term of regular VC ended. The govt also appointed V Balakista Reddy, chairman of Telangana Council of Higher Education, as in-charge VC of JNTUH.
