Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has scheduled its next council meeting on December 11, at the corporation office.

A 46-point agenda was prepared for the meeting. Around 16 proposals were related to mechanical works under the corporation, while another 10 proposals were related to water supply works, it was learnt from the GVMC authorities. Other proposals were from Town Planning, Electrical works, Finance, Administrative, and Engineering works.

A few more proposals are likely to be introduced in an additional supplementary agenda, based on the requests from a few officials and corporators. The corporators have been informed about the meeting and all arrangements are being made.

This is the second corporation’s council meeting being arranged after the formation of the new government. In the last council meeting, an extended question hour was organised by the Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari, in which all the corporators were given almost a day to speak about their grievances.

Recently, a review meeting was organised by the GVMC Commissioner P. Sampath Kumar about the preparedness of the council meeting. He enquired about the proposed agenda points from the department heads concerned and also asked about the need for introducing them in the agenda. He has also asked the officials to provide clarification to the queries raised by the members in the previous council meeting in a written format. A few corporators have expressed that many proposals were just ratification to already in-principle approved by the Mayor.

Jana Sena Party (JSP) corporator P.L.V.N. Murthy has urged the corporation to conduct discussions on the TDR bonds issued in the urban limits for the past few years. He has also requested for a discussion on revenue collections, the revenue generated and collected from shops, commercial establishments, advertisements etc. He has also demanded a discussion on bills and payments pertaining to contractors for completing development works in the last five years, delay in payments and the alleged irregularities involved in the payments.
