Hyderabad:Two 23-year-olds died on spot after the bike they were riding on hit an electric pole, on Gundla Pochampally road at 3 am on Saturday. Police identified the deceased as Anil and Karthik Reddy. The vehicle was said to be travelling at high speed at the time of the crash.

Their bodies were shifted to the mortuary for postmortem examination. A case was registered and further investigation is underway.

7 held in drug trafficking

Hyderabad: The Shamirpet police arrested seven persons, including a minor, near Majeedpur for transporting 26 kg ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad. The accused were Nayan Das, Anikesh Singh, Rohith, Dalwale Laksh Raj Singh, Geeta Mandal, Geeta, and a juvenile. Meena Bai is absconding, police said. The contraband was wrapped in 14 bundles and hidden in their car. Anikesh hired his relatives to travel with him to pose as a family so that the police would not stop them.

CCU Retrieves ₹35L Lost by Two Victims

Hyderabad:The city cybercrime unit (CCU) helped two victims retrieve `35 lakh that they had lost to fraudsters.

A 76-year-old man from Hyderabad was deceived by fraudsters who claimed that he was implicated in a money laundering case and placed him under the fraudulent ‘digital arrest’. To escape from their clutches, he transferred `84 lakh to the gang. He later moved the police. A team, led by inspector P. Pramod Kumar, got the fraudsters’ accounts frozen and helped the senior citizen retrieve `34 lakh.

The other victim was a 28-year-old homemaker from Hyderabad, who was extorted by fraudsters who claimed that her name had come up in a money laundering scam, and forced her to transfer `1 lakh to them. Upon her complaint, a team led by inspector K. Prasad Rao sent notices to her bank and helped her through the court process, which helped in the recovery of the amount.

Cops File Case Against Kaushik for Obstructing

Hyderabad:The Gachibowli police on Saturday registered a case against BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy for allegedly obstructing officers from performing their duties and threatening to die by suicide while he was being arrested by the Banjara Hills police from his residence in Kondapur.

According to Madhapur DCP Dr Vineeth G., on December 5, while the MLA was being arrested at his residence in Kondapur by the Banjara Hills police for allegedly obstructing the station house officer (SHO) and abusing him, he also obstructed the police from making an arrest and allegedly threatened to die by suicide.

On the night of December 5, Kaushik Reddy was presented before the magistrate in Kothapet, where he was granted a bail along with two sureties and a fine of `5,000.

His arrest came days after he created ruckus at the Banjara Hills police station under the pretext of lodging a complaint regarding his phone being allegedly tapped by Congress leaders. During that time, the MLA allegedly obstructed the vehicle of the SHO and allegedly abused him in his cabin.

Upset by Teacher’s Scolding, Boy’s Bid to Die by Suicide

Hyderabad: A 15-year-old boy allegedly attempted to die by suicide at his house on Saturday, Raidurgam police said. On Wednesday, he was scolded by his mathematics teacher at Nagarjuna High School for arriving late, and made to kneel down.

In the evening, while his mother stepped out to purchase vegetables, the 15-year-old took the alleged step. His mother on arriving home saw the teen struggling and shifted him to a hospital with the help of her neighbours. He is undergoing treatment.

The mother later lodged a complaint against the teacher, identified as Abdul Naheem. Based on the complaint, police booked the teacher for insult and causing harm under the Juvenile Justice Act and the BNS.

Cop’s Swift Action Saves Life of 60-Yr-Old

Hyderabad:Quick action by a traffic cop saved a 60-year-old woman from losing blood after a road accident near IDPL junction. Police said that she was struck by an RTC bus while crossing the road at about 8.30 am on Friday.

The victim, Addagutta Chandrakala, suffered injuries to her leg and began bleeding. Jeedimetla traffic police inspector B. Srinivas and head constable Hanumaiah provided first aid to stop the bleeding, and shifted her to a hospital. The doctor appreciated the cops’ quick response.
