Vijayawada: As part of its ongoing efforts to put big-ticket industrial project proposals on the fast track, the state govt has transferred APIIC lands in Kopparthy (Kadapa dist) and Orvakal (Kurnool) to Andhra Pradesh Industrial Corridors Infrastructure Development Corporation (APICIDC). The industrial nodes will be developed with the support of the Centre. While Kopparthy is part of the Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor (VCIC), Orvakal falls on the Hyderabad-Bangalore industrial corridor (HBIC).
The govt is sharing the burden of land cost while the Centre will spend close to Rs 2,500 crore on each project for development of infrastructure. The Centre granted two industrial nodes out of the total 12 announced in the Union budget to Andhra Pradesh. Taking the Centre’s proactive role to develop industrial nodes with a serious note, the state govt has completed the land acquisition and also transferred the lands to APICIDC. The industrial nodes are expected to generate massive employment for locals.
Kopparthy in Kadapa district has been proposed to promote food processing, metallurgy, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and aerospace. The industrial node will be spread over 2,595 acres, while the state has already earmarked another 3,164 acres adjacent to the industrial node for development of an electronic city.
Similarly, Orvakal industrial node connects both the VCIC and CBIC. The project is strategically located near Kurnool airport and has good road connectivity. The development of the industrial nodes is part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). The state govt has also waived off registration stamp duty for transfer of land.
