Visakhapatnam: Three IndiGo flights were diverted to different cities from Vizag due to poor visibility and fog at Visakhapatnam International Airport on Saturday. While Delhi to Vizag flight (6E 545) was diverted to Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad to Vizag (6E 618) and Bangalore to Vizag (6E 217) flights were diverted to Hyderabad.
Visakhapatnam airport director K Raja Reddy said that three IndiGo flights were diverted from Visakhapatnam, and a few flights did not take off or were delayed from Vijayawada due to poor visibility.
According to sources, thick fog disrupted flight operations in Vijayawada as Delhi-Vizag flight hovered in the sky before it was diverted to Hyderabad. The Chennai-Vizag (6E 575) flight was delayed for two hours against its scheduled time of 7.45 am, while 6E 128 flight from Vijayawada to Vizag was also delayed against its scheduled time of 8.35 am. This apart, Chennai-Vizag-Chennai and Tirupati-Vizag-Tirupati flights were diverted, and another Chennai-Vizag-Chennai flight was cancelled.
