The cybercrime police helped two victims, one a senior citizen aged 76 years and the other was a 28 year-old woman.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad cybercrime police helped two victims of online frauds get back their money to the tune of Rs. 35 lakhs.
In the first case, a senior citizen aged 76 years was put under digital arrest by cyber fraudsters who threatened and forced him to transfer Rs. 84 lakh to various bank accounts. On a complaint, the cybercrime police registered a case and immediately contacted banks where the accounts were opened and are operated.
The bank officials freezed some bank accounts and could withhold an amount of Rs. 34 lakh. The officials helped the victim further with court related procedure and finally the victim got Rs. 34 lakh back.
In the other case, the police helped a 28 year-old woman who had fallen prey to fraudsters in getting back Rs. 1 lakh. The victim on being threatened of arrest transferred Rs. 1 lakh to the accounts provided by the fraudsters. Later on realizing that she was duped the victim approached the police who followed it with bank officials and got the money reverted to her bank account.
