Hyderabad Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions around Hussainsagar lake in Hyderabad for Sunday (December 8, 2024).

The Hyderabad Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions in view of the Indian Air Force air show over Hussainsagar, Tank Bund, scheduled for Sunday (December 8, 2024). The event, part of the ‘Praja Palana Praja Vijayotsavalu’ celebrations, will necessitate diversions and road closures from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. to ensure public safety and smooth traffic management.

As per the advisory, traffic from Raj Bhavan and Panjagutta towards Khairatabad flyover will be diverted at VV Statue towards Shadan, Nirankari, and Old Saifabad Police Station. Similarly, commuters travelling from Khairatabad flyover towards NTR Marg will be rerouted at Indira Gandhi Statue (Necklace Rotary) towards PVNR Marg, Necklace Road, Prasads IMAX, or Mint Compound Lane. Traffic moving from Liberty to Upper Tank Bund will be redirected at Old Telugu Talli Junction towards Iqbal Minar, while vehicles approaching from Iqbal Minar towards Old Ambedkar Junction will be diverted to Telugu Talli flyover towards Katta Maisamma.
In addition, commuters from Nirankari Junction and Old Saifabad Police Station, heading towards Iqbal Minar, will be diverted towards Ravindra Bharathi. Vehicular traffic approaching from Ravindra Bharathi towards Iqbal Minar will also be rerouted towards Lakdikapul. At DBR Mills, traffic moving from Dhobi Ghat towards Children’s Park or Upper Tank Bund will be redirected towards Kavadiguda Crossroads. Similarly, vehicles at Kavadiguda Crossroads will be diverted either towards Jabbar Complex and CGO Towers or towards DBR Mills, depending on their direction of travel.
Traffic from Ranigunj heading to Upper Tank Bund will not be permitted and will instead be redirected at Karbala Maidan towards Bible House. Additionally, all inter-district RTC buses from Secunderabad to MGBS via Tank Bund will be diverted at Sweekar-Upkar Junction, passing through alternative routes — Sangeeth, Tarnaka, Nallakunta and Chaderghat.
Designated parking spaces have been arranged for people and dignitaries attending the event. These include areas along PVNR Marg, Necklace Road, Adarsh Nagar Lane, GHMC Head Office Lane, Formula Race Course Road, and Boats Club, as well as near Martyrs’ Memorial.
The police advised citizens to avoid congested areas, including VV Statue, Khairatabad, Old Saifabad Police Station, Iqbal Minar, Telugu Talli Junction, Necklace Rotary, Liberty, Ravindra Bharathi, Ambedkar Statue, Kavadiguda Crossroads, Katta Maisamma, Indira Park Crossroads, Karbala Maidan , Ranigunj, and Nallagutta.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police urged citizens to use alternative routes and follow updates on Hyderabad Traffic Police Facebook page or Twitter handle @HYDTP. In case of travel emergencies, assistance is available via the traffic helpline on 9010203626. These restrictions will be lifted once the event concludes.
