‘Mega Parent Teachers’ meeting held across Kurnool, Anantapur and Nandyal districts

‘Mega Parent Teachers’ meetings were held in government educational institutions across Kurnool, Nandyal and Anantapur districts on Saturday.

Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath, who participated in the meeting at the Indira Gandhi Memorial High School in Kurnool town, said such meetings would be useful for ensuring that parents are actively engaged and involved in the students’ academic growth.

Mr. Bharath said the State government has appointed Chaganti Koteswara Rao, an orator, who is known for his discourses on the Sanatana Dharma, as Advisor (Students, Ethics and Values).

Anantapur District Collector V. Vinod Kumar, who participated in the meeting at Zilla Parishad Primary School at Kuderu, said students should cut down on mobile phone usage and focus on reading books, physical exercises and sports.

Nandyal District Collector Rajakumari Gania said teachers should inculcate knowledge and values among the students in addition to academic learning. She said that the meetings were aimed at gauging problems faced by the students, their interest of subjects and sports and how to hone their skills.

Participating in the Zilla Parishad High School at RS Rangapuram village in Bethamcherla mandal of the district, Ms. Gania said students and teachers have a key role to play in desisting the children from getting addicted to mobile phones and televisions, which has become a major concern for the parents. She added that steps are being taken to conduct screening tests for school students and provide necessary medicines.

Participating in the meeting at Municipal High School in Nandyal town, Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana interacted with the students on drug abuse and explained the ill-effects of consumption of drugs. He urged parents to inform the police about sale or consumption of drugs or ganja on the tollfree number, 1972.
