Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after a 40-year-old housewife from New Bowenpally alleged that her husband installed secret spy cameras in their home to capture her private moments and blackmail her.
According to the woman’s statement, she discovered that her room had been fitted with spy cameras disguised as mosquito repellents. She claimed that her husband had recently shown her explicit photos and videos of herself, threatening to post them online unless she withdrew all legal cases against him and vacated the house.
The woman further alleged that her husband had installed spy devices outside her room and possibly in her car. To verify her suspicion, she staged a conversation with a relative, pretending to discuss matters against her husband. Later that day, he confronted her about the topic, confirming her belief that the car was being monitored as well.
On the night of November 27, the woman reportedly heard unusual noises from another room. When she opened the window to investigate, she noticed red lights emanating from the other room. Upon searching the house, she found hidden spy cameras.
She claimed that her husband had collected explicit images of her showering and other private moments. She also accused her in-laws of being complicit in the blackmail.
Based on her complaint on Friday, Bowenpally police registered a case under Section 78 of the BNS Act and Section 66-D of the IT Act. The investigation is currently underway.
