Hyderabad: Backward Classes Welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, on behalf of the state govt on Saturday, invited governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union minister G Kishan Reddy, and Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the unveiling of the ‘Telangana Talli’ (Mother) statue at 6:05pm on December 9 at the Secretariat.
Ponnam, the in-charge minister for Hyderabad, extended the invitations during separate meetings with the Governor at Raj Bhavan and Kishan Reddy at Dilkusha govt guesthouse. The event is expected to be attended by around one lakh women members of self-help groups.
Later, Ponnam visited KCR’s farmhouse in Erravalli to invite the BRS president. Congress govt advisor on protocol issues, Harkara Venugopal, accompanied him. BRS leaders, including former MP Joginpally Santosh Kumar, former MLA Jeevan Reddy, and Vamshidhar Rao, were present to welcome the minister and his delegation.
BRS president KCR also hosted a lunch for Ponnam at his farmhouse, where the two leaders reminisced about their experiences during the Telangana statehood agitation and recalled key developments that took place in Delhi in the run-up to state formation.
Chief secretary A Santhi Kumari reviewed arrangements for the air show to be held over Hussainsagar Lake on Sunday, followed by the unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue on Monday.
Meanwhile, Ponnam Prabhakar also mentioned plans to extend invitations to the Owaisi brothers for the event.
