CM’s family buys land in Amaravati, to construct house

Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu‘s family recently purchased land in capital Amaravati. In an informal chat with reporters on Wednesday, Naidu confirmed the land purchase but said he does not know any details as it is being looked after by the “home minister”, referring to his wife, Bhuvaneswari.
It is learnt that Naidu’s family bought about 25,000 square yards of land in Velagapudi revenue village for construction of a house. Naidu has been staying in a rented house for the past 10 years. The land was purchased from three farmers who gave their lands for capital construction in the land pooling scheme and are holding returnable plots allotted by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). The plot purchased by Naidu abuts E-6 road and also the seed access road. The total extent of the land after adjoining the plots will be about five acres, in which Naidu’s family is planning to build a house in some part and utilise the remaining space to develop greenery and parking.
Responding to the “forcible takeover” of Kakinada port, Naidu said he never heard of such things where persons in power grabbed the properties of private individuals. “We need more stringent laws to deal with such elements,” he said. On the SECI controversy, Naidu said once the agreements are signed, the party which intends to cancel will have to pay a penalty. “The govt is exploring all options and will take a decision in the best interests of the people,” he said.
