
Visakhapatnam: Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha along with DGP Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Sunday inaugurated new building for Arilova police station and few other police related facilities (advanced lockers at the city crime records bureau to secure crime records and road accident victim assistance centre) in Vizag city.
Minister Anitha said that the state govt has been giving priority to strengthen police infrastructure. She announced Rs one crore has been allocated for the repair of the culvert near the Arilova Police Station through GVMC funds.
The main aim of the newly established road accident victim assistance centre is to provide assistance to victims of road crashes. A toll-free number, 7995095793, has been set up for this purpose, she said.
The installation of CCTV cameras in all urban areas will mitigate the crime in the coming days and drones will be used to monitor and root out cannabis cultivation in the remote areas in the state. Andhra Pradesh govt has constituted Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (Eagle) to deal with drug menace and it will focus on identifying the kingpins, peddlers, and consumers, and find the origin and destination of the ganja rackets, she added.
Regarding the traffic chaos in Vizag city, the minister said the police will create awareness among the motorists about road safety to mitigate the traffic chaos in the city, she added.
