Hyderabad: Justice Nagesh Bheemakapaka of Telangana high court on Friday dismissed a writ petition challenging awarding the contract work of construction of Telangana Thalli pedestal and water fountain in front of the statue on secretariat premises to S CUBE Infra on a nomination basis.
The judge was dealing with a petition filed by Ch Ramesh, a resident of Harijan Basti in Shaikpet, who alleged that irregularities took place in awarding the tender on nomination basis. He mentioned that the estimation of the work was around 4 crore, which cannot be granted on a nomination basis.
Meanwhile, Juluru Gowrishankar, writer and president of Telangana Rachayuthala (Writers) Vedika has filed a public interest litigation before the high court, seeking a direction to restrain the state govt from replacing the existing Telangana Thalli statues across the state by spending 150 crore. The petitioner further sought a direction to continue the existing Telangana Thalli statues. The PIL is still at scrutiny stage in the high court registry.
