Fans and admirers of legendary actor N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) are in for a cultural extravaganza named NTR Cine Vajrotsavam being organised by NTR Literature Committee in Vijayawada on December 14 to mark the completion of 75 years of the release of his debut movie Mana Desam, which came out on November 24, 1949.
Addressing mediapersons along with NTR’s son Nandamuri Ramakrishna here on Sunday, committee chairman T.D. Janardhan said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and NTR’s family members would grace the event. Books titled NTR Cine Prasthanam and Taraka Ramam, highlighting NTR’s illustrious film career and his trailblazing stint in politics, would be released on the occasion. Besides, the guests would launch an NTR Anthem. The event would feature an exhibition on the life and works of NTR.
Mr. Janardhan recalled how NTR left a lasting impression on the Telugu film industry, starting with Mana Desam, in which he played a policeman, and his contribution to politics, especially as Chief Minister.
The NTR Cine Vajrotsavam would also beheld in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and other cities. Telugu Film Producers Council president K.L. Damodar and AP Nataka Academy chairman Gummadi Gopalakrishna were present.
