Curtains will come down on ‘Praja Palana–Praja Vijayotsavalu’, the celebrations marking the Congress government’s one year in power, with the unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat and a subsequent public meeting to be addressed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and others on Monday evening.
The conclusion of the three-day extravaganza coincides with the birthday of Congress leader and former AICC president Sonia Gandhi. To make the occasion memorable, the Congress leadership has decided to mobilise one lakh SHG members besides party workers for a public meeting around the Secretariat.
Ahead of unveiling the Telangana Talli statue on Monday evening, Mr. Revanth and his Cabinet colleagues inspected the statue and reviewed the arrangements. The celebrations will end with a drone and fireworks show and a carnival.
In the meantime, State Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud held a meeting with party leaders to discuss the the public meeting’s organisation. Stating that there was overwhelming response to the Congress rule in the State, Mr. Mahesh Kumar urged the party rank and file to attend the unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue function.
During the past two days, various departments showcased their activities on the HMDA grounds. On Sunday (December 8), the display of breathtaking aerobatics by the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran team, comprising nine Hawk Mk 132 aircraft flying in tight formations of just five metres apart, stole the limelight.
Led by Su-30 MKI pilot Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, the jaw-dropping display left the audience, including the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues, awestruck.
