Hyderabad: The Centre for Economics and Social Studies (CESS) is set to begin data analysis for the caste survey this week, having already prepared schedules. The focus will be on rural areas first to establish reservations for local panchayats. Efforts will also target the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) areas to finalize survey details. Data has been collected from 1.14 crore households out of 1.17 crore.
Officials announced that data collection is complete, except for GHMC. “Some families were hesitant to provide information, while others were unavailable during visits. We will conduct a follow-up survey to address this,” an official stated.
For the survey, officials developed software with 800 codes for direct data linking. “Data entry has been occurring concurrently with the survey process. We expect to complete data entry within a few days, after which analysis will commence promptly,” sources indicated.
Sources said the margin of errors in data collection and entry is very small due to digitalization. “There is a possibility the analysis will be presented in book form,” sources said.
Officials reiterated that reluctance was more in urban areas, mostly in GHMC. “About 10 percent of families refused to give Aadhaar details,” they said.
The data on local reactions will be kept very secret. The government has employed more than 90,000 enumerators to collect the information.
