CM Naidu inducts Nagababu into cabinet

Vijayawada: Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced the induction of Konidala Nagababu, brother of deputy chief minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, into the state cabinet. With his induction, the number of ministers in the state cabinet has gone up to 25.
Nagababu, a popular film actor in the Telugu states, entered politics in 2009 through the Praja Rajyam Party, which founded by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. Later, he aligned with younger brother Pawan and became an active member of Jana Sena. He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Narasapuram, but lost. He remained involved in the party’s activities as its general secretary.
In the 2024 general elections, Nagababu was supposed to contest from Anakapalli, but had to step aside when the seat went to BJP as part of seat-sharing arrangements. There was speculation that he would be sent to the Rajya Sabha from one of the three vacant seats from the state. However, with the BJP nominating R Krishnaiah, Naidu decided to include Nagababu in the cabinet.
