Revanth reiterates commitment to Telangana people’s aspirations

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who unveiled the Telangana Talli statue at the Secretariat premises, emphasised the cultural significance of Telangana Talli as a symbol of the State’s identity and traditions. “Mother is the embodiment of our culture and traditions. Telangana culture was insulted and humiliated in the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh. This statue is a reminder of our journey and aspirations,” he said.

Highlighting past neglect under the BRS rule led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the CM flayed the previous administrations for ‘prioritizing individual and political interests over the people’s aspirations’. “After the formation of Telangana, one person, one family and one political party prioritized their interests. The decision to install the Telangana Talli statue was taken after consultations with my cabinet colleagues to truly represent the aspirations of our four crore people. (Bahujan representation),” he stated. Giving details about its efforts to fulfil aspirations of people, he reminded that the Congress government had replaced ‘TS’ with ‘TG’ as the State’s abbreviation aligning with the wishes of Telangana activists.

He also took a critical stance on the previous government’s failure to officially recognise the song Jaya Jayahe Telangana as the State anthem. “Despite inspiring us during the movement, the song was not declared the State anthem for ten years. We have now corrected this oversight,” the CM remarked.

The Telangana Talli statue, designed to reflect the Bahujan form of the mother of Telangana, will now be commemorated annually on December 9 as a State function. “Anyone attempting to alter the design of this statue or disrespect the state function will face legal consequences,” he warned.

In recognition of contributions to the Telangana movement, the CM announced rewards for nine poets, artists and others including Guda Anjaiah, Bandi Yadagiri, Gaddar, Ande Sri, Goreti Venkanna, Suddala Ashok Teja, Jayaraj, Aekkada Yadagiri Rao and Pasham Yadagiri.

“The government will provide a 300-yard house plot in Future City, ₹1 crore and a felicitation letter to poets who sacrificed everything for Telangana,” he declared.

Referring to resistance to his government’s decisions by the BRS, Mr. Reddy said, “Some may feel anguish, but Telangana was not achieved for one family or political party. We faced humiliation and neglect in the united Andhra Pradesh and even in the last ten years of Telangana. This government will ensure such neglect never recurs.”
