Telangana High Court Denies Stay on Group-II Exam Dates Amid Conflicts with Railway Recruitment Board Tests | Hyderabad News

HC declines to stay Group-II exam scheduled for Dec 15, 16

Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Monday declined to stay the Group-II competitive examination, which is scheduled for December 15 and 16. Justice Pulla Karthik issued the orders while hearing a writ petition filed by 23 aspirants from various districts of Telangana.
The aspirants argued that the exam dates coincided with the railway recruitment board (RRB) exam, set for December 16-18.
“Since both examinations coincide, by shifting the Group II examination to some other date, we can appear for both, which will be beneficial to us,” the aspirants informed the court.
However, the standing counsel for the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) informed the court that 5.51 lakh candidates had applied for the Group-II exam, with more than one lakh already having downloaded their hall tickets. He added that all arrangements for the exam were in place.
“A few candidates are seeking a stay on examination, and stalling it will deprive all other candidates an opportunity to write the examination,” the commission’s counsel informed the court.
The judge said that at this stage, the examination cannot be stayed and further issued notices to the TSPSC secretary, the railway recruitment board (RRB) secretary in Lallaguda, Secunderabad, and the Union railway ministry’s secretary in New Delhi and adjourned writ petition.
The RRB is conducting its exam to fill 7,951 vacancies for various posts, including junior engineer, depot material superintendent, chemical and metallurgical assistant, and research supervisors in chemical and metallurgical fields.
