Hyderabad:Telangana’s transformation into an industrial, IT and IT-enabled services hub is closely linked to its progress in ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the sector.
As per the latest release of the state-wise per capita availability of power from the Reserve Bank of India, the power availability in the state has consistently increased from 2,004.9 kilowatts in 2021-22 to 2,211.9 kilowatts in 2022-23 and 2,398.1 kilo watts in 2023-24. Power availability has increased from 7,052 crore units to 7,780 crore units and 8,461 crore units respectively.
The installed power capacity as per the latest RBI report also increased from 18,069 MW in 2021-22, 18,066 MW in 2022-23 and 19,519 MW in 2023-24.
The data released by the RBI is based on the information provided by the Central Electricity Authority of the Union power ministry.
On power requirement, the report said it grew from 7,054 crore units in 2021-22 to 7,783 crore units in 2022-23 and 8,462 crore units in 2023-24. The report noted that the state had managed to meet the peak power demand.
In 2023-24, the peak power demand was 15,922 MW of which it met 15,911 MW, short by 0.1 per cent.
