Hyderabad: A woman in her mid-20s died by allegedly by suicide after being continuously harassed by her husband for dowry, Miyapur police said on Monday. The victim’s brother Vijay Kumar filed a complaint with the police about his sister Kaveri’s death by suicide over domestic violence.
According to the police, Jagannath, the husband of the deceased, is an autorickshaw driver and wanted to buy a new vehicle for which he needed Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. He asked his wife to bring money from her parents and she refused. Jagannath allegedly beat her up.
According to the complaint, the victim complained to her parents and showed her injuries but they asked her to compromise. On December 7, at around 8 pm, she allegedly died by suicide at her residence. Police have registered a case and arrested Jagannath.
