The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed Government Pleader for Home Mahesh Raje to secure instructions over seizure of the mobile phone of ex-MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy of BRS by Masab Tank Station House Officer.
Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was hearing a writ petition filed by way of lunch motion by the former legislator of Huzurabad constituency seeking a direction to police to return his mobile, seized by Masab Tank Inspector Ch. Parashuram.
According to the petitioner, the Inspector forcibly took his mobile phone after bringing him to Masab Tank police station on November 6 in a criminal case.
The case was registered against him when the ex-MLA allegedly prevented the Banjara Hills police Inspector from discharging his duties. The petitioner’s counsel said the police did not give any receipt acknowledging seizure of the phone. Mr. Mahesh Raje informed the Bench that the phone was seized as part of investigation into the case registered against him.
The phone was sent to Forensic Science Laboratory for ascertaining if there was any conspiracy angle in the case registered against the ex-MLA. The judge adjourned the matter to Thursday for next hearing.
