The construction of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) facility in the Madhurawada IT SEZ is progressing swiftly, following a proposal from Dallas Technology Centre (DTC) to lease its premises to TCS and make additional arrangements. Earlier this week, the state industries and commerce department issued a government order confirming the proposal.
DTC has submitted requests for an occupancy certificate, permission to sub-lease the premises to TCS, and the allocation of an additional 1,600 sqm of space at the original rate of INR 6,720 per sqm. Previously, the government had allocated Plot No A, spanning 7,774.90 sqm at Hill No 2 in Rushikonda to DTC. The sale agreement was executed on August 12, 2016, with possession of the plot transferred on September 8, 2016. DTC had been granted four extensions for the project, with the final deadline set for August 9, 2026.
In a letter received earlier this week, DTC revealed its plans to facilitate TCS operations, aiming to employ 2,000 IT professionals in Phase I of the development. The current ground plus three-floor facility is only capable of accommodating 1,400 employees, prompting the request for an additional 1,600 sqm from the remaining 1,909 sqm available on the plot.
The proposal was reviewed by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) on November 19, following recommendations made during the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC) meeting held earlier in November. After careful consideration, SIPB endorsed a special package for DTC, which was subsequently approved by the government. The government has now directed the relevant departments-including E&F, S&T, power, roads and buildings, infrastructure and investment, industry and commerce (CIP), and finance-to expedite the implementation of the project through their heads of departments (HODs) and public sector undertakings (PSUs).
The TCS facility in Madhurawada IT SEZ marks a significant step for the region’s IT sector. With the government’s approval and the allocation of additional space, the project is set to expand, creating ample employment opportunities and boosting the local economy.
