HYDERABAD: The Additional Sessions Judge, Jagtial, Sugali Narayana, sentenced two persons to life imprisonment and another to five years imprisonment in a murder case reported at Ibrahimpatnam of Jagtial district in January 2022. The judge pronounced the convicts, Kasa Sanjeev, Thaidapally Rajinikanth, and Mangalarapu Laxmi Narayana, guilty of brutally killing Chedalu Rajender, a farmer.
Sanjeev and Rajender had their fields side by side, which led to a long-standing dispute. As Rajender did not allow a portion of his land for Sanjeev to have a path to his field, Sanjeev nursed a grudge and killed him with the help of the other two persons.
Ashok Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Jagtial, congratulated the investigation officer, L Srinivas, Addl public prosecutor, K Mallesham, and the court duty officers, T Ranjith and G Kiran Kumar.
Police said on the day of the incident, when the deceased was in his field, the convicts attacked him and stabbed him repeatedly, killing him on the spot. Rajender’s wife, Latha, who was in the same area, rushed to his rescue upon hearing him cry for help, but due to deep stab injuries, he collapsed in a pool of blood and died on the spot.
During the trial, police presented a strong case before the court with technical, forensic, and eyewitness evidence. The judge examined the evidence and delivered the verdict on Tuesday, awarding life imprisonment to Kasa Sanjeev and Thaidapally Rajinikanth, with a fine of Rs 10,000 each, and five years imprisonment to Laxmi Narayana, with a fine of Rs 5,000.
