I started alone from Delhi early in the morning so had to cover Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal in the dead of the night, but at no point of time did I feel unsafe.

Just drove down from Delhi to Kolkata yesterday. This was my 4th trip in the last one year, and ever since the first one with BHPian predatorwheelz last year, I have stuck to the tried and tested route: YEW to Agra, ALE to Etawah exit, and then NH19 throughout. Road conditions are brilliant, with Bihar being a minor irritant with diversions. The West Bengal part of the journey was painful earlier, but seemed to have improved quite a bit this time with even the diversions having decent surface.

Including two traffic snarls of 45 mins each where all the cars stood standstill just before the UP-Bihar border, it took me 21h 10m to complete the journey from door to door, which should give you an idea of the road conditions.
