In a shocking incident, four school children have reportedly gone missing in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam after getting inspired by Dulquer Salmaan-starrer period crime drama Lucky Baskhar, narrating the compelling tale of a common man’s journey from rags to riches.

According to reports, the four children, who are all studying in 9th grade, ran away from their hostel after watching the film as they decided to leave their homes in search of money and fortune, IANS reported.

The four have been identified as Charan Teja, Raghu, Karthik and Kiran Kumar – all residing in a hostel in Maharanipet. After getting fascinated by Baskhar’s journey, they allegedly decided to emulate his story in real life, reports said.

CCTV footage of the incident has now gone viral on social media. The video shows the boys climbing the hostel gate. They can be seen passing their bags over the gate before taking turns to climb the gate and running away.

As per the timestamp on the viral video, the incident took place at around 6:20 AM on December 9.

According to IANS, the four were amused by the film to the degree that they went on to plan their escape from the hostel and even became successful in it.

Before leaving the facility, they reportedly told their friends that they would only return once they earned enough money to buy cars — like it is depicted in the film.

The parents of the children after getting alarmed by their disappearance approached the local police, while a missing persons case has been filed in this regard.

Making all possible efforts to locate the four boys, the authorities are actively searching several public places, including railway stations and bus terminals.

Directed by Venky Atluri, the Telugu film was released on October 31. It revolves around the journey of a banker, who is heavily burdened by financial woes and family responsibilities. The film shows Baskhar seizing an opportunity to exploit the various loopholes in the banking system.

Besides starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, the film also features Meenakshi Chaudhary, Tinnu Anand, P. Sai Kumar, Ramki and Raghu Babu among others.

Upon its release in theatres, the film was a major box office success, minting more than Rs 107 crore worldwide, including Rs 81.15 crore in the domestic market.

The film saw its OTT debut on Netflix on November 28.
