Hyderabad: Two municipal officials were allegedly assaulted while investigating unauthorized bore well drilling in Gandicheruvu village, Abdullapurmet mandal on Thursday. Bill collector Bandari Kumar and waterman Anupatti Girish, acting on instructions from panchayath secretary Rajashekar Reddy, visited a disputed land in Vishnu Priya, Shiva Priya Nagar Venture (Survey No. 188-195) around 10 pm. They encountered Jakka Papireddy and his son Jakka Dheeraj Reddy at the site. When asked for drilling permissions, the Reddys allegedly became hostile, verbally abused the officials, and physically assaulted Kumar by grabbing and tearing his shirt collar. Dheeraj Reddy also temporarily confiscated Girish’s phone while he was recording the incident. An FIR has been filed against both father and son for obstructing govt officials in their duty. Police investigation is ongoing.
