Conspiracy hatched at then CM’s office to frame actress, HC told | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: A conspiracy was hatched at the former chief minister’s office (CMO) to implicate Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani in the alleged forgery case, advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas told the high court on Friday. Opposing the anticipatory bail petitions filed by former Vijayawada police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata, then DCP Vishal Gunni, ACP Hanumanta Rao, and Ibrahimpatnam SHO Satyanarayana, he said prima facie evidence is available against the police officials in the case.
Arguing on behalf of the state govt, the advocate general said even before the complaint was lodged by Kukkala Vidya Sagar, police officials conspired to implicate Jethwani in the case. Although Gunni was transferred from Vijayawada, he was not relieved and sent to Mumbai to arrest Jethwani, he told the court, adding that Gunni was told by Kanti Rana that he would be relieved only after returning from Mumbai.
Srinivas further argued that Vidya Sagar lodged the complaint on Feb 2, alleging that Jethwani tried to sell his land with forged documents. “Police registered the case at 6 am the same day. However, Kanti Rana instructed his clerk to book tickets for police officials to go to Mumbai on Feb 1 itself. By the time the case was registered, the police officials were already at the airport,” the advocate general said, adding that to unravel the entire conspiracy that was hatched at the level of the CMO, custodial interrogation of the petitioners is required. He mentioned that the investigation could not proceed any further because of the interim orders of the high court granting protection from arrest to the petitioners.
Arguing on behalf of Jethwani, Vasireddy Prabhunath said police officials at all levels, from the chief of intelligence to constable level, became a party to the offence. Stating that then intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu played a key role in the conspiracy, he said with his oral orders, police registered a false case against Jethwani.
Prabhunath further said that prima facie evidence is available against every officer involved in the case. Due to lapse of time, the high court posted the matter for further hearing to Dec 19.
