GHMC allocates over 1,100cr for widening of roads in three zones

Hyderabad: To ease traffic congestion in the city, GHMC has decided to widen several roads in the Khairatabad, Serilingampally and Charminar zones and allocated over 1,100 crore for carrying out the works. The road widening projects aim to address the growing traffic concerns in various parts of Hyderabad.
GHMC officials had conducted detailed surveys to identify bottlenecks that require immediate attention. In the Khairatabad zone, the focus would be on major corridors connecting commercial areas, while Serilingampally zone’s development plans include widening roads leading to Financial District.
In the Charminar zone, GHMC has planned several road development projects, include widening an 80-feet road stretching from Azeem Hotel to Church Gate (Shoeb Hotel to Balapur Road) and a 60-feet road from Chandrayangutta X Roads to Barkas via Chandrayangutta police station, worth 320 crore.
The project also encompasses the development of a 60 & 40-feet road starting from Lucky Star Hotel to Hafeez Baba Nagarand the construction of a 100-feet road connecting Tulasi Nagar to Ghouse Nagar.
“Recognising the need for improvement of arterial routes and congestion on the basis of a comprehensive traffic study taken up by HMDA, we decided to improve the road network in the city with junction improvements, grade separators/flyovers,” a GHMC official said.
