Hyderabad hosts grand dance festival to celebrate Voleti Rangamani’s 50 years as Kuchipudi Guru-Telangana Today


The Kuchipudi performances began with the Vinayaka Stuti, followed by the Sandhya Tandavam and Mandodari Sapatham, all of which were well-received. Srinika Reddy’s rendition of ‘Alamelu Manga Daruvu’ stood out, while Chittoju delighted the audience with Pravallika Parvathi’s ‘Daruvu’. Additionally, Chintareddy Madhumita captivated with a rare Kuchipudi folk ensemble performance.

Hyderabad hosts grand dance festival to celebrate Voleti Rangamani’s 50 years as Kuchipudi Guru


Hyderabad: A festival of dance worship organized to commemorate Voleti Rangamani’s five decades as a Guru had hundreds of disciples participating in a ceremony organised by Telangana Language and Culture Department and Abhinaya Darpana Arts Academy at Ravindra Bharati.

Kuchipudi dances started with Vinayaka Stuti followed by Sandhya Tandavam and Mandodari Sapatham which received appreciation. The ‘Alamelu Manga Daruvu’ performed by Srinika Reddy was particularly impressive while Chittoju entertained with Pravallika Parvathi’s ‘Daruvu’, Chintareddy Madhumita entertained with the rare Kuchipudi folk ensemble.


The Simhanandini dance performed at the end was the main attraction. Choreography by Kalaratna Voleti Rangamani, dance with daughter Voleti Rekha, D.V. S.Shastri contributed the vocals, Rajagopalacharya with mridangam, Dinakar with violin and Uma Venkateswarlu with flute. PMK Gandhi commented while Voleti Rekha and Voleti Rakesh moderated.

Eminent literary scholar Dr. Voleti Parvatheesham, musician Nallan Chakraborty Murthy, film director Siva Nageswara Rao, spiritualist Dr. Anantalakshmi, dance teachers Dr. R. Prasannarani and Nirmala Prabhakar praised Rangamani’s services.
