Vijayawada: Markapuram sixth additional district and sessions court judge M Subhavani sentenced six persons to life imprisonment and imposed fine of 1,000 each after they were found guilty in a murder case in 2015. The convicts were identified as Parisa Pogu Karuna Kumar (34), Parisa Pogu J. Rao (34), Parisa Pogu Anand Rao (34), Parisa Pogu John (40), Parisa Pogu Naresh Kumar (36), and Parisa Pogu Wilson (45).
The six men were convicted for the murder of one Ongole Ephraim (35), a resident of Bommalapuram village in Dornala mandal.
According to police, Ephraim’s sister had married one Parisa Pogu David about 15 years ago. David passed away in a train accident, four months after his marriage. Blaming Ephraim and his family for David’s death, his six brothers plotted revenge.
Around 3 pm on Sept 6, 2015, the accused men attacked Ephraim near the village outskirts. They brutally assaulted him with sticks and stones, inflicting severe injuries. An injured Ephraim was rushed to Dornala govt hospital and later transferred to Markapuram govt area hospital and Guntur govt general hospital. There, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
