With Telangana government committed to promote growth of industries in a geographically decentralised manner, the next phase of manufacturing activity in the State is likely to be concentrated in the region between Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), a senior official said on Thursday (December 12, 2024).
“Most of the [new] industrial activity will happen between ORR and RRR. We have been tasked to identify new industrial parks,” special chief secretary of IT and Industries Jayesh Ranjan told CII Telangana Packcon 2024, a two-day summit on packaging that got underway in Hyderabad.
Locations for MSME parks identified
The government has already identified 10 locations with 300 acres to 2,000 acres each for the MSME parks. It is also looking to establish bigger industrial parks on the lines of Cherallapaly and Jeedimetla industrial parks, he said, adding the government is about to commence construction of Regional Ring Road. The RRR will come up about 50-60 kms from the core of the city.
Highlighting role of packaging industry and how it catered to a range of industries, Mr. Ranjan said “reasonably sufficient number of plots” will be made available for packaging units in the proposed industrial parks. Co-location with other vertical players is an integration the government would facilitate, he added.
The senior official urged the stakeholders in the packaging industry to partner with the Young India Skills University to ensure a steady stream of trained manpower. Underscoring the significance of recycling, for the packaging industry, he said Telangana is likely to achieve the net zero target ahead of the country.
