Visakhapatnam: Inspired by a Telugu movie ‘Lucky Baskhar’ starring Dulquer Salmaan, four minor boys of St. Ann’s High School in Visakhapatnam escaped from their hostel, but were rescued by police at Vijayawada railway station.
Three boys are in the ninth standard, while one is in the eighth standard.
On December 9, the boys scaled their hostel gate at Maharanipeta in the port city recently, carrying Rs 3,600 in cash.
One of the boys had brought Rs 12,000 with him, paid only Rs 8,000 in fees and took the remaining money with him when he left the hostel.
They reportedly wanted to emulate actor Dulquer Salmaan’s character from the recently released, ‘Lucky Baskhar’ and dreamed of becoming rich and driving cars to their school.
The disappearance of the students was captured on the hostel’s CCTV cameras. The police who confirmed from theirs parents that their children had not come home, the management of the hostel lodged a missing complaint with MR Peta police station.
“After watching the movie in their hostel, the boys decided to run away, become rich, and drive cars to school. Motivated by this, they scaled the hostel gate and escaped,” a police official told.
However, after spending all the cash they had, the boys were found by a police team at Vijayawada railway station December 10, Tuesday night and were safely rescued.
On Wednesday morning, the boys were handed over to their parents.
The movie Luck Bhaskar revolves around a cash-strapped cashier working at a bank who embarks on a risky investment scheme and soon gets drawn into the murky world of money laundering.
